These are the prawns you see draped over rice at every good sushi bar. Each one has been cooked, peeled, deveined, stretched and butterflied open with the tail left on, ready to lay straight onto a pillow of sushi rice. Sweet in flavour with a slightly firm texture, they're the easiest way to add colour and variety to a homemade sushi spread, and they feature in our Sushi Bar Family and Party Sets.
Each tray holds 30 prawns, serving 4 to 6 people.
Already cooked: defrost in the fridge, pat dry and use cold. For nigiri, shape a small oval of seasoned sushi rice, add a dab of wasabi and drape a prawn over the top, pressing gently. They're also great in rolls, chirashi bowls or a quick prawn salad.
All our seafood is frozen to lock in quality from sea to doorstep. Keep frozen until needed and defrost in the fridge before serving. Once defrosted, eat within 24 hours and don't refreeze. Free delivery Tuesday to Friday on orders over £75, or collect from us if you're near South Ruislip.
Are they cooked?
Yes, they're fully cooked and ready to eat once defrosted.
What's the difference between sushi ebi and ama ebi?
Sushi ebi are cooked prawns with a firmer bite and bright pink-and-white stripes. Ama ebi are raw sweet prawns with a soft, almost creamy texture.
