Big, sweet and firm, these large white prawns are farmed in India and come peeled and deveined, so they're ready to cook in minutes. Known as vannamei or whiteleg prawns, they're the versatile workhorse of restaurant kitchens, equally at home in a stir-fry, a curry, on the grill or in garlic butter.
Each 700g pack serves 3 to 4 people.
Defrost in the fridge, or in a sealed bag under cold running water for quicker results, then pat dry. Cook over a high heat for 2 to 3 minutes until pink and opaque all the way through. Try them pan-fried in garlic butter and chilli, threaded onto skewers for the BBQ, or added to a curry or stir-fry in the final few minutes.
All our seafood is frozen to lock in quality from sea to doorstep. Keep frozen until needed and defrost in the fridge before cooking. Free delivery Tuesday to Friday on orders over £75, or collect from us if you're near South Ruislip.
What does 16/20 mean?
It's the trade grade for prawn size: there are 16 to 20 prawns per pound (454g). The lower the numbers, the bigger the prawn.
How do I know when prawns are cooked?
They turn from grey to pink and opaque, and curl into a loose C shape. A tight O shape means they're overcooked.
